A period, walnut Louis XIV commode with marble top and rounded, fluted corners (which form the feet) . The flat front has a pair of side by side drawers over two long drawers. The lovely drawer pulls are rococo and would have been added probably in the 18th century. The side panels are nicely molded, echoing the medallions on the drawer fronts. The figured deep red marble, original, has a been broken and repaired (see photos). All and all an exceptional and lovely example of a 17th century French commode.
