A stunning 18th century mahogany and gilt mirror, the frame with rosettes and beaded molding and over fluted, tapered "feet" flanking an apron with a garland swag. The mirror is topped with a tall cartouche with pierced and gilded carving along the edges, the carvings including birds, beads tassels and scrolls. The original plate is very slightly beveled. The back with a paper, handwritten label dated 17__ , the wording in English. Purchased at an estate sale in New England, we've designated this piece American, though it may be British.
