A late 19th century French console and games table attributed to Gabriel Viardot (1830 - 1904), the table having a folding top which opens and rotates to form the gaming surface. The apron of the console sports intricate chinoiserie inspired fretwork over gilding, the fretwork echoed in the brackets under the apron and forming the upper part of the legs. The Asian inspired carbriole legs end in claw feet. Dimensions 33ʺW × 17ʺD × 30.5ʺH
Good to very good antique condition, with some areas showing signs of old worm holes, loss to the fretwork and an excellent old repair to the front left leg (see photos). Overall, beautiful, sturdy and functional. Measurements provided are for the table folded, in console form. The table top, open, is 33" square.
