A charming and unusual oil on panel still life painting of a a vase of flowers sitting on a pedestal, the oil applied directly to the unfinished wood panel. The subject matter is expertly rendered, depicting a the vase of flowers as well as a small mossy bird's nest with eggs and a snail crawling along the marble topped pedestal. Presented in a green paint Louis XVI style frame. Found in France and dating from the second half of the 19th century.
